An important physical quantity that represents the characteristics of dispersed two-phase flow is the information on the individual particle diameter and velocity. FtrPIA (Particle Image Analyzer) is a particle measurement system that utilizes background illumination and direct imaging. It is capable of visualizing and quantifying everything from the particle formation process to the flight conditions, making it powerful for understanding the characteristics of dispersed two-phase flow. PIA (Particle Image Analyzer) is a method that measures particle diameter and velocity by magnifying and capturing images of flying particles using microscope lenses and analyzing the particle images. Its advantage is that it can measure regardless of whether the particles are spherical/non-spherical, transparent/opaque, or solid/liquid. The measurement accuracy is determined by the spatial resolution of the imaging device and the resolution of the optical system used for imaging. The FtrPIA system includes FtrPIA-TCL, which solves the depth of field problem, and FtrPIA-Endoscope for measuring dense particle groups.

By inserting the probe into the particle group, it is possible to capture images of the deep regions of the densely flying particles. It utilizes a direct imaging method with background illumination, making it applicable to various particles regardless of transparency/opacity, spherical/non-spherical shape, or particle material.
