basic information
Ricocalm is a "constraint-type" vibration-damping material with a structure that covers a damping layer (resin layer) with an aluminum plate (constraint layer). The resin layer not only has excellent vibration-damping performance but also possesses an adhesive strength of 18N/20mm. It comes with a release paper on the surface, which can be peeled off to adhere to vibrating walls, beams, ceilings, or floors to suppress vibrations. The vibration-damping material works by converting the energy of vibrations into heat through the viscoelastic damping layer, thereby reducing vibrations. The constraint layer is generally made of heavy materials like steel plates to enhance the damping effect; however, Ricocalm achieves high damping performance with lightweight aluminum plates by utilizing a multilayer structure for the damping layer. As a result, it realizes a weight reduction of 40 percent compared to equivalent products using steel plates. Currently, we are obtaining material certification with a view to adoption in marine applications, but we would also like to explore evaluation opportunities in fields such as railways, transport machinery, generators, motors, and pumps.
