Real Record! The Threat of Natural Disasters! A Case of Tank Fire Exposed to the Aftermath of the Tokachi-Oki Earthquake and the Ravages of Fire
This document introduces the case of the establishment of an internal special team, "Equipment Structure Reinforcement Study Group," in response to the lessons learned from the fire at the Idemitsu Hokkaido Refinery caused by the Tokachi-Oki Earthquake. Incorporating the philosophy of the U.S. standard UBC, which considers the probability of disaster occurrence and its impact, we developed the "Idemitsu Equipment Resilience Method," which not only focuses on equipment reinforcement but also maximizes consideration of the impact on corporate activities to achieve "maximum effect at optimal cost." As a result, while many facilities suffered significant damage and were forced to halt operations during the Great East Japan Earthquake, we were able to quickly contribute to energy supply in the disaster-stricken areas without significant impact on operations or shipments. 【Specific Initiatives】 ■ Re-evaluation of national seismic standards ■ Expansion of assumed disaster targets ■ Avoidance of excessive burden through pinpoint reinforcement ■ Support not only in hardware but also in software aspects *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
