Real Record! The Threat of Natural Disasters! A Case of Tank Fire Exposed to the Aftermath of the Tokachi-Oki Earthquake and the Ravages of Fire

This document introduces the case of the establishment of an internal special team, "Equipment Structure Reinforcement Study Group," in response to the lessons learned from the fire at the Idemitsu Hokkaido Refinery caused by the Tokachi-Oki Earthquake. Incorporating the philosophy of the U.S. standard UBC, which considers the probability of disaster occurrence and its impact, we developed the "Idemitsu Equipment Resilience Method," which not only focuses on equipment reinforcement but also maximizes consideration of the impact on corporate activities to achieve "maximum effect at optimal cost."
