■Measurement Principle Yuzu skin is observed by the way that extremely small surface deformations distort the appearance of the reflected object due to the principle of light leverage. To quantitatively evaluate this, a pattern of stripes projected onto a screen is captured by a television camera as it reflects off the surface of a specular object, and the distortion of the stripes corresponding to the surface deformation is analyzed (zebra pattern observation). This amount of distortion relates to the gradient of the deformation shape (the amount of surface inclination). By determining the coordinates of corresponding points on the screen at every point on the object's surface, the amount of stripe distortion is quantified and evaluated as the distribution of surface inclination angles and curvature.
