Comparing cylindrical and disc shapes! Our company adopts the "cylindrical shape," which is lightweight and has low pressure loss!
Our company has been using "cylindrical" screens in all of the various screen changers we have developed over the past 20 years, and we already have a track record of approximately 1,000 sets of different sizes. Currently, most screens and screen changers used in general extruders are "disc-shaped," but based on a comparison of both types, we believe that the smaller size and lower pressure loss of the "cylindrical" type are superior. I have been involved in design and research and development at a major extrusion machine manufacturer for about 35 years. When I retired, continuous and backwash screen changers were just starting to gain attention, but at that time, they were all imported from abroad, which made them expensive and difficult to obtain. In my small way, I aimed to address this issue by working on the development of a new domestically produced screen changer. In 1996, I developed Japan's first continuous backwash type (rod rotary) screen changer and took the step to commercialize it in 1997. Since then, with the support of many customers, we have continued as a specialized manufacturer of screen changers to this day.
