Safe and highly reliable JRC pulleys through thorough strength calculations.
Belt conveyor pulleys (hereinafter referred to as "pulleys") are placed in key areas of the belt conveyor. In the event that even one of them is damaged, it could lead to the conveyor stopping, potentially halting the entire system. Additionally, since they are used under harsh conditions that are greatly affected by the belt's tension and winding, careful selection of each component based on solid design principles and high manufacturing skill is required. JRC thoroughly conducts strength calculations based on its own design standards, selects appropriate components, and carries out consistent production at specialized factories to provide safe and highly reliable pulleys.

basic information
Pulleys include "drive pulleys" that mainly drive belt conveyors, "snub pulleys" that increase the wrap angle of the belt around the pulley, "tail pulleys" located at the end of the conveyor, "tension pulleys" that pull the belt, and "bend pulleys" that change the direction of the belt. Additionally, there are various types of pulleys depending on the shape and application of the conveyor. In our company, during the design process, we not only confirm the outer dimensions of the pulleys but also check the operating environment of the entire conveyor system, including the specifications of the motor, in advance. We calculate load conditions and identify concerns for each product. Furthermore, we conduct thorough "strength calculations" for all components, including the shaft, shell, end plates, and bearings, to design safe and reliable pulleys. Since pulleys are relatively expensive components among the parts of a belt conveyor, we also carefully select materials, avoiding unnecessarily heavy and costly materials. We understand the properties of materials based on strength calculations according to load conditions and set optimal materials and dimensions that do not reach the calculated fatigue limit.

Applications/Examples of results
At JRC, we manufacture various shapes and specifications of pulleys according to our customers' requests, in addition to the products listed in our catalog. For special pulleys that are said to be difficult to produce by other companies, we may also be able to design and manufacture them, so please feel free to consult with us.
Detailed information
-
Basket-type pulley Even if the conveyed item gets caught between the belt and the pulley, it will fall out through the gaps in the pulley itself, reducing adhesion to the surface of the pulley. It is mainly used as a tail pulley for bucket elevators.
-
Disk pulley When there are ribs or fins on the belt, a standard pulley would typically collide with them, but this pulley is designed to avoid that. It is mainly used for bending pulleys on steep incline conveyors, where there is curvature on the conveying surface.
-
Climber return pulley Similar to the disk pulley, the shape that avoids the belt's ribs and fins is similar, but this pulley is used as a substitute for the return roller rather than at the bending section. It is mainly used in climber conveyors.
-
Vita Cleaner This is a special pulley that can be used as a vibrating body to knock off attached substances by striking the return side belt, and it can also be used with ribbed and finned belts. There are two types: a driven type that follows the movement of the belt and a self-rotating type that connects with other pulleys and sprockets.
