Introducing a case where Far East Construction Co., Ltd. Marine Development significantly reduced production time loss by reliably conducting interference checks using 3D CAD.
Kyokuto Construction Co., Ltd. in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, is a company that specializes in underwater construction work. In order to improve work efficiency and ensure the safety of divers, the company has been developing its own construction machinery, specifically backhoes that can be used underwater, using 2D CAD until now. However, due to the inability to create complex equipment layouts, they have been laying out the actual equipment after the ordered parts arrived, which has led to many reworks and extended timelines. To address this, they introduced two licenses of "SOLIDWORKS"! By performing equipment layouts on CAD before ordering parts, and with a clear understanding of the layout, it has become possible to proceed with other tasks in parallel while parts are being manufactured. **Resolved Issues:** - With 3D CAD, interference checks can be reliably conducted, eliminating rework after parts arrive and significantly reducing production time loss. - During the development of the shaft-type underwater excavator T-iROBO UW, the complex interference between the lifting inner frame and the rotating outer frame for excavation could be checked in detail. *For more details about the case study, please refer to the [PDF download].*
