As part of our efforts towards carbon neutrality, we are reducing CO2 emissions through semi-dry processing using water-soluble mist. The target for CO2 emissions reduction in machining factories is related to cutting oils. The most effective measures include reducing the use of petroleum-based cutting oils, discontinuing the use of pumps that circulate cutting oils, and eliminating regular waste disposal of cutting oils. Esrim enables the semi-dry processing of machine tools that use large amounts of cutting oils, such as machining centers and NC lathes. We address parts made of alloy steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other materials that traditional oil mist could not handle, using high cooling-effect water-soluble cutting oil mist. Esrim can inject water-soluble cutting oils, which were previously difficult to use, through internal lubrication methods such as turret-through and spindle-through.

  The machining center's spindle through can mist spray water-soluble cutting oil. This enables semi-dry processing for applications such as deep hole machining and rib machining, which cannot be addressed by external nozzles, significantly expanding the range of applications.   We compared the coolant pump (1.5 MPa) and mist in the drilling of SCM440H with a 5φ×40mmL drill. Using the exact same water-soluble cutting oil (emulsion) under high-speed conditions (peripheral speed of 100 m, feed rate of 0.25 mm/rev), we processed 1800 holes. The mist processing achieved a lifespan equal to or greater than that of the conventional pump. Moreover, this data was obtained using a 5φ drill with small oil holes, which makes mist injection challenging.
