Introducing basic knowledge about the habits and breeding season of bats!
The Japanese house bat is the only bat in Japan that exclusively inhabits buildings. It is widely distributed in flat areas, particularly in urban areas, and can commonly be seen in the evening sky of cities. It can enter and exit through gaps of about 1.5 cm, primarily using spaces such as under roof tiles, in attics, and ventilation openings as its main roosting sites. They often live in family units of several individuals, but breeding colonies, including young bats, can number from 50 to 60, and sometimes even up to 200. However, adult males generally live alone. The lifespan is about 3 years for males and 5 years for females, which is relatively short compared to other bats. In the past, it was considered auspicious to have them residing in homes, but as that image has faded, their presence in human dwellings has led to issues such as contamination from droppings and urine, along with associated odors and the emergence of mites, which can negatively impact human life. Such problems are on the rise. At Protect Co., Ltd., we offer highly effective bird repellent products for pigeons, crows, bats, and other wild birds.
