Hemming is a method of shaping metal sheets by rotating them to form a rotational body shape. While the initial investment (such as mold costs) for press molds requires a concave and convex type, hemming only requires a basic convex type. The cost of a hemming mold starts from 20,000 yen, while a press mold starts from 250,000 yen (for simple shapes), allowing for a very low initial investment, making it suitable for small-batch production of various types. Additionally, because the material is shaped by rotation, it can reduce the stress in the rolling direction of the material, resulting in higher precision in post-forming distortion compared to pressed products.
