About Makuden Thoughts of the President of Makuden, Representative Director Yoshida Norio Proposals for Japanese Living by Japanese People After graduating from university, I joined an advertising agency, then took over the family business and established a furniture retail division. To learn about furniture, I traveled across Japan from Hokkaido to Kyushu, visiting various furniture production areas. Not satisfied with just domestic experiences, I also attended overseas furniture trade shows in Italy, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Indonesia, Thailand, and more, where I was exposed to various lifestyles and cultures. Drawing on my experiences with many excellent products, I always stood in the store thinking about what Makuden, as a Japanese furniture retailer, could propose to our customers. As time passed, I began to consider whether we could make proposals that only Makuden could offer. I thought that the essence of our store creation was to propose furniture that pays more attention to "Japan." Thus, by establishing the new concept of "Proposals for Japanese Living by Japanese People," we renewed and reopened "NIPPON MODERN Makuden" on March 10, 2016.
