It can be utilized for the lifespan management of reformer tubes in steam reformers associated with hydrogen production and ammonia production facilities. Traditionally, the lifespan of all reformer tubes, which number in the dozens or hundreds, was estimated through destructive testing by sampling. Even within the same furnace, the progression of damage in the tubes is not uniform, and there are risks associated with representative inspections through sampling. Therefore, the introduction of a scanning system for non-destructive testing of all tubes is progressing. The Idemitsu Group has implemented "LEO-SCAN" in the reforming tubes of hydrogen production facilities to conduct comprehensive inspections and manage remaining lifespan.
