High-performance, small form factor storage solution The ActiveStor Ultra Edge 100 (ASU-100E) is the latest and smallest addition to the Panasas ActiveStor product family. The ASU-100E is designed for compact primary data centers, remote data centers, and hub-and-spoke edge deployments, providing parallel file system performance where needed with a small footprint and low-cost entry point. The ASU-100E features Panasas' parallel file system, PanFS, and is based on the ActiveStor architecture, orchestrating multiple computers into a single entity to deliver data for today's modern HPC AI/ML and HPC applications. It continuously balances the load across the system, scrubs stored data for the highest level of data protection, and encrypts stored data to protect it from unnecessary exposure, all while operating without human intervention.

Panasas ActiveStor Ultra typically has a minimum configuration of three ASU-100 units, but this time, we have prepared an entry configuration program with two ASU-100 units to make initial deployment easier. In this configuration, compared to the three ASU-100 unit setup, the ratio of effective capacity to physical capacity is lower, and the maximum throughput performance is also reduced. All software features of PanFS are provided even in the two-unit configuration, allowing access to the parallel file system from clients. After deployment, it is possible to add ASD-100 nodes and ASU-100 units while online, which will improve the ratio of effective capacity to physical capacity and enhance maximum throughput performance. By reducing the initial deployment costs when considering the introduction of a scalable parallel file system, options for validating storage system deployment or considering the introduction of computing infrastructure are expanded.
