Japan's first! Development of a new tunnel LED lighting system using direct current power supply.
Technologies registered in the New Technology Information System (NETIS) have adopted both the direct current power supply method (CG-170008) and (TH-15008).
The newly developed tunnel LED lighting system, the first of its kind in Japan, has achieved miniaturization and weight reduction of the fixtures by installing the power supply unit inside the electrical room and supplying power to the lighting fixtures in the tunnel with direct current. Conventional products had the power supply unit within the fixture itself, but this product does not have a power supply unit inside the fixture, allowing for miniaturization and significantly reducing installation work. Additionally, by consolidating the power supply unit in the electrical room, maintenance has been simplified. The direct current-powered tunnel LED lighting system reduces construction costs by making the lighting fixtures ultra-compact and lightweight and using a connector system for power wiring, while installing the power supply unit in the electrical room enhances maintenance ease and safety. The direct current-powered tunnel LED lighting incorporates technologies registered with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's New Technology Information System (NETIS) (CG-170008) and the technology for compact and lightweight LED tunnel lighting fixtures (TH-150008). Recently, we have supplied the tunnel LED lighting system for the Kyuuzan Tunnel (downhill L=1,704m) on National Route 185, under the jurisdiction of the Hiroshima National Highway Office, Chugoku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

basic information
Hoshi and Electric Co., Ltd. has been supplying lighting fixtures since 1957, when it provided lighting for the Kanmon Tunnel, the world's first underwater tunnel at that time. In 2010, it delivered the first LED tunnel lighting fixtures in Japan for a national highway directly managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to the Enoura Tunnel. 1. The LED tunnel lighting fixtures with a direct current power supply system consist only of LEDs (light-emitting parts) without an internal power supply unit, resulting in an ultra-compact and lightweight housing, which reduces both fixture and installation costs compared to conventional products. 2. The dimming control of the tunnel lighting fixtures is possible through direct current control from the power supply unit in the electrical room, eliminating the need for dedicated dimming cables. 3. The power connection for the tunnel lighting fixtures uses waterproof connectors, which streamlines wiring connection work and contributes to a reduction in construction time. (Series connection method using CVV cables) 4. By installing the direct current power supply unit in the electrical room, maintenance for inspection and replacement is improved. 5. The tunnel lighting fixtures are designed without corrosion-prone components such as hinges and locks, enhancing fall prevention and safety. 6. The direct current power supply unit allows for remote monitoring via the web from computers installed in offices, enabling remote maintenance and preventive maintenance, including fault monitoring, through network connectivity.

Company information
Hoshia Electric has established itself as a top manufacturer in various business fields, including information display systems such as road information boards, industrial lighting known for its waterproof and explosion-proof features under the name "Water Pearl," tunnel lighting that began with the full-scale installation in the Kanmon Tunnel, and resin products represented by "Cutting Duct." As a new business, we started the electromagnetic noise countermeasure (EMC) product business in 1997 to address electromagnetic noise issues arising from digital devices. In the LED business, we successfully developed a blue light-emitting diode in April 2002 and a white light-emitting diode in December of the same year. Based on these technologies, we are actively expanding our business in the field of LED lighting fixtures, ranging from roads and tunnels to industrial lighting. On March 9, 2018, Hoshia Electric Co., Ltd. was listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In April 2022, we transitioned to the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market. Moving forward, we will continue to leverage our unique creativity and technological capabilities cultivated over the years to develop even more innovative products and strive for business expansion.
