The inside of the tube and the stirring rod have a grinding texture, allowing you to crush samples like a mortar and pestle. Place the sample in the tube and use either manual force or the separately sold electric mixer Power Masher II to rotate the stirring rod and break down the sample. The stirring rod is equipped with a lip to prevent the sample from bouncing back, splattering, or flowing backward. It can be used to crush various samples, including animal tissues and organs, plants (stems, roots, seeds), and insects.
