By compounding PLA with nanocellulose (CNF: cellulose nanofiber), improvements in tensile strength, elastic modulus, and flexural strength have been confirmed. Additionally, more detailed observations using an electron microscope have confirmed that compounding nanocellulose with PLA results in a more uniform and smaller distribution of foaming (pores).
