A completely new type of flow meter has just been introduced to replace the hot wire anemometer!
The laser cantilever flowmeter detects the direction and flow velocity of a fluid by using a precisely manufactured cantilever that bends slightly due to the flow, with the degree of bending detected by a laser and a two-dimensional detector. The main body is protected by a robust housing, allowing for flow measurements in environments where traditional hot-wire flowmeters, which are prone to damage, would be difficult to use. Additionally, it does not require calibration each time it is used, and one unit can measure flow velocity in both air and water. The interface uses USB, significantly improving signal speed and achieving time-series measurements of up to 150 kHz.
