Cromall is a chromium-based alloy plating that contains 2-4% carbon, offering high hardness and excellent wear resistance. Unlike conventional hard chrome plating, it is crack-free and has fewer coating defects like those found in DLC films, resulting in superior corrosion resistance. (The corrosion rate in hydrochloric acid is one-third that of hard chrome plating, and can be reduced to one-sixth with heat treatment.) Compared to DLC films, which begin to degrade at around 300°C and lose adhesion, Cromall maintains stable adhesion and demonstrates good adhesion even at high temperatures. It is also possible to treat inner surfaces where DLC processing is not effective.

Case 1 ■Before Implementation Hard chrome plating was used to prevent edge drooping of the fine holes in the fiber mouthpiece and to prevent eye discharge. Additionally, there was a desire to apply a treatment with improved wear resistance, but DLC could not withstand the 300°C operating temperature and the 400°C temperature during the cleaning process. ■After Implementation By applying the Croamore treatment, wear resistance improved, and the lifespan of the mouthpiece increased. It also maintained high hardness at the 300°C operating temperature, and there was no degradation of the coating or reduction in adhesion at the 400°C cleaning process, lasting 4 to 5 times longer compared to hard chrome plating. Case 2 ■Before Implementation Hard chrome plating was used on PVC building material extrusion molds, but corrosion due to cracks in the plating occurred, leading to peeling issues. The surface gloss was also inconsistent, affecting the flow of the resin. DLC was also tested, but like hard chrome plating, corrosion occurred, leading to abandonment of that option. ■After Implementation By applying the Croamore treatment, the lifespan increased to 3 to 4 times compared to the hard chrome plating, which required reprocessing approximately every month. Additionally, since the gloss before plating was almost maintained, polishing after plating became unnecessary, stabilizing the flow of the resin.
