Aluminum die casting (hereinafter referred to as ADC), which is a special cast product, has been used in various fields in recent years as a material that can instantaneously mold precision parts. It has high strength and excellent castability, but it also has low ductility, and there are very challenging aspects when viewed from the fastening side. Among our many products, we would like to introduce fasteners and fastening methods that can be used for joining ADC with different materials. 1. Self-piercing rivet RIVSET Easily mechanically joins different types of materials without pre-drilling. 1. Self-Piercing Rivet RIVSET Belhof has developed a special die for aluminum die casting. Using conventional dies (flat type) up to now causes cracking on the bottom side. Therefore, we developed a ring groove die that successfully reduces cracking. It is designed to leave more material around the rivet's legs, dispersing the stress that causes cracks. 2. Resistance Welding Fastener WELTAC In specific applications, die casting undergoes heat treatment to reduce cracking in mechanical joints. However, the WELTAC insertion process does not cause plastic deformation, so the risk of cracking is minimal. Therefore, it is possible to insert it in locations that are close to the end face. In some cases, it does not require heat treatment for die casting, leading to cost reduction.
