Currently, abandoned satoyama (traditional rural landscapes) across the country are becoming a problem. With the rapid changes in our lifestyle due to post-war economic growth, these satoyama areas have been left untended. If left as they are, it is said that the ecosystems and specific plants present there are at high risk of disappearing. By understanding the current state of these satoyama areas, we aim to provide opportunities to think about the coexistence with nature and the global environment through lectures and workshops using saplings derived from satoyama. Please enjoy the gentle greenery of satoyama close to you. <Program Overview>: Basic 70 minutes First half: "Learning about the Global Environment from Satoyama" by Atsuko Suzuki (approximately 40 minutes) Second half: Satoyama BONSAI Workshop (approximately 30 minutes) *An "Online Satoyama BONSAI Workshop" can be held using an online meeting system. *The program can be customized upon request.

【Satoyama BONSAI】 1. Container: A masu made from domestically sourced thinned wood (Size: 107mm height × 107mm width × 59mm depth) 2. Native Seedlings All seedlings used are native species. They are collected by Satoyama volunteers and carefully nurtured at welfare facilities in Kanagawa Prefecture. 3. Effective Use of Resources The masu used as planters is made by recycling cypress wood that was previously used as building materials. 4. Aiming for a Sustainable Society The profits from the Satoyama BONSAI workshop contribute to the maintenance of Satoyama and the income of welfare work facilities, supporting sustainable and continuous Satoyama conservation activities and employment for welfare purposes. 5.
