Imparting spring properties to thin plates! Improved ductility, impact resistance, toughness, and durability.
"Aus-tempering treatment" is a continuous heat treatment that imparts strong spring performance to high carbon steel (C: 0.6% or more) thin plate products (t: up to 2.0mm). After heating in a non-oxidizing atmosphere furnace to the austenite region (approximately 800°C to 900°C), it is held isothermally in the lower temperature range (approximately 300°C to 450°C) below the S-curve nose, and then cooled, which imparts a bainitic structure to the product. Due to extremely low thermal distortion and dimensional changes, as well as the attainment of good spring performance, it is widely used for thin plate springs and similar applications.
