We measure the amount of charge generated by friction between powders and between powders and the walls of containers or equipment.
At GranuCharge, samples of powder and powdered products are passed through pipes arranged in a zigzag shape, and the charge amounts before and after are measured and compared. There are no measurement discrepancies with the automatic measurement operator. The standard material for the pipes is SUS316L, but options for aluminum, PVC, and high-density polyethylene are available. The piping sections are interchangeable, allowing for the evaluation and comparison of charge amounts for different piping materials.

By measuring the charge of powders using GranuCharge, it is possible to predict the static electricity that powder products will acquire within the equipment, and to consider handling methods and materials for devices and piping to minimize the effects of static electricity. Additionally, in the case of metal powders, the chargeability also depends on surface characteristics (e.g., oxide films). This can also be utilized for evaluating and improving the recycling process of metal powders for additive manufacturing.
