Zero Latency 4K Uncompressed Optical Transmitter/Receiver
Transmitter: DPN9042A, DPN9042B, DPN9043A / Receiver: DPN9044A
It is possible to transmit and receive 4K/60p ultra-high-definition video and Full HD/120p ultra-high-frame-rate video uncompressed and with "zero latency" via optical fiber.
This is a product for one-way optical transmission that separates the transmission and reception functions of the set-top box (DPN9001A). It converts HDMI output signals into serial optical signals for uncompressed transmission via optical fiber (DPN9042A, DPN9042B, DPN9043A) and can also convert optical signals back into HDMI input signals (DPN9044A). It allows viewing of 4K/60p ultra-high-definition video (audio) captured by a 4K camera or full HD/120p high frame rate video captured by a full HD camera from a distant monitor with "zero latency," meaning no delay is perceived by the human senses. By using dark fiber, long-distance optical transmission is possible, enabling real-time monitoring of large theaters, stadiums, public facilities, and social infrastructure from remote locations. When combined with optional optical splitters (DPN9045A, 4-way) / (DPN9049A, 8-way), it allows monitoring of 4K ultra-high-definition video and 120p high frame rate video at multiple points. Additionally, for cases where optical fiber is branched with an optical splitter or transmitted over long distances, a high-output version of the optical transmitter DPN9042B is also available.

Applications/Examples of results
■ Theater solutions such as "conductor monitor," which allows performers and singers who cannot directly see the conductor's baton at a music concert to view the baton video with zero latency. ■ Zero latency and real-time centralized monitoring of social infrastructure such as bridges, roads, and railways in response to natural disasters. ■ Zero latency and real-time operation of remote devices such as robots and heavy machinery.
Detailed information
-
The zero-latency video transmission using this unit is particularly suitable for remote performances and ensembles where the demand for video delay is strict. It can be used as a "conductor monitor" that allows viewers to watch the conductor's baton movements in "zero delay" from a distance. An example of this system being used as the aforementioned "conductor monitor," allowing performers who cannot directly see the conductor in the theater to view them through the monitor with zero delay, is illustrated in the diagram. When combined with our recommended Full HD/120fps camera, the actual measured video delay using our delay measurement unit DPN2011B was found to be less than 15 milliseconds, which has satisfied professional performers.

Koh Pass Communications Inc. is a venture established by volunteers from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). Utilizing the new optical communication technology called Dynamic Optical Path Network (DOPN), developed through the VICTORIES project at AIST, we are advancing the commercialization of this new optical communication technology and its derived technologies, which enable the bidirectional, zero-delay transmission of uncompressed optical signals between distant locations with ultra-low power consumption. "TeleSession" leverages DOPN as a platform to transmit 4K/8K ultra-high-definition video and high-quality audio in an uncompressed, zero-delay manner, allowing for real-time sharing as if through a "connecting window," aiming for applications in telemedicine and spatial sharing in distant music and theater halls. Additionally, the dark fiber network for DOPN can be used as a transmission path for high-capacity Ethernet. Our company focuses on three main pillars of business: building optical fiber network platforms, manufacturing and selling uncompressed optical transmission equipment for TeleSession, and producing and selling delay measurement units that can accurately measure the delay in video transmission.
