The 3D printer material CB50 from Kunyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. is a powder material that can be used in methods known as PBF powder bed fusion and SLS powder laser sintering. The formulation of special spherical carbon enhances hardness (elastic modulus) and heat resistance, resulting in minimal deformation due to heat and external forces, with a shrinkage rate during molding approximately half that of conventional materials, leading to excellent dimensional accuracy. It was first adopted as a 3D printed component for inspection jigs by major automobile manufacturers in 2014 for tool applications. CB50 has been used over several years across numerous vehicle models by domestic automobile manufacturers, increasing its track record in automotive production lines. By directly designing from the 3D data of the final product, it simplifies the CAD/CAM design process and reduces machining processes, contributing to a decrease in labor load in manufacturing settings. Additionally, due to its high heat resistance, it has a proven track record for prototype evaluations in high-temperature ranges (120°C to 200°C). Furthermore, measurement results of its volume resistivity indicate that it also possesses electrostatic discharge (ESD) performance.
