The impact of aging on the immune system has been known for some time, but the outbreak of the novel coronavirus has further highlighted the vulnerability of the elderly to infections. A recent paper published in the journal Advances in Nutrition reveals that older adults often have insufficient intake of micronutrients and that this deficiency affects immune function.
