High optical purity D-lactide
D-Lactide is a biodegradable resin monomer that is dimerized from high optical purity D-lactic acid. It is in the D form, not the L form. It can be used as a polymer grade made from high optical purity D-lactic acid with low amounts of moisture and acid. By using it as a monomer, it can contribute to the development of new biodegradable materials and biocompatible resins for medical applications and packaging materials. Japan Materials Research Institute also manufactures D-lactic acid and is advancing the development of poly D-lactic acid.
