A method to reduce processing time! Introduction of a case proposing the production of carbide side cutters tailored to the shape of the groove.
We received an inquiry from Company F, a manufacturer of energy-related equipment (wind power), asking if we had any ideas for reducing costs and processing time during the machining of special-shaped grooves. In response, we proposed the production of a custom carbide side cutter tailored to the groove shape. As a result, tool costs were reduced to one-fifth, and processing time was cut down to one-third. Based on years of experience and knowledge, we improved the design to determine what kind of cutting edge would be less prone to breakage and how to cut at what speed, resulting in the shape shown in the photo.
