Crime prevention! Case studies: A design that does not give visitors an impression of being monitored!
Rami
The staff said, "The design is good, so it doesn't give visitors the impression of being monitored," and it received positive feedback!
We would like to introduce a case where the mirrors we handle were implemented at Bonsejour Kawaguchi. The entrance to the elevator on the first floor of the facility is a place where many users intersect. Although there have been no accidents so far, it was a place of concern, as we didn't want anything to happen. After installing the mirrors, staff members expressed that they felt safe working there, and it received high praise. Additionally, visitors often feel resistance to the idea that their family members residing there are being monitored by surveillance cameras, but this mirror was evaluated as having a good design that does not convey the image of "surveillance." When it comes to mirrors, most people probably think of mirrors that reflect only themselves (such as full-length mirrors, hand mirrors, or three-way mirrors). However, Komi's mirror is designed to observe the movements of other objects and people, as well as to show "consideration" for others. For example, one can check with the mirror to see if anyone is coming around a corner to avoid a collision, or to check if someone is trying to get on an elevator and wait for them... Komi's "considerate mirror" is useful all over the world, from convenience stores to airplanes.
