What is a pandemic?

Infectious diseases progress through stages before reaching a pandemic, with the first stage being called an "outbreak," which refers to a situation where the number of cases of an infectious disease increases beyond what is normally expected in a specific area or population. When the infectious disease expands to a larger region than the outbreak, it is referred to as an "epidemic," and the progression from epidemic leads to a pandemic. In other words, if an outbreak does not occur, a pandemic cannot happen. This outbreak often occurs indoors, similar to clusters, so it is crucial to implement indoor infection control measures to prevent outbreaks.
