The "GWD2 type" detects occurrences by stretching wires across a stream, allowing debris flows (mud flows) to pass through the cross-section and cut the wires. By stretching multiple wires (up to 5 measurement lines) in the direction of the riverbed elevation, it is possible to estimate the scale of the flow.
