Aiming to achieve IT factory transformation, we are working on a "visualization" system based on the voices from the field.
At Nakashima Propeller, a manufacturer of marine propellers, we produce large propellers with a diameter of nearly 10 meters. The production process of the propellers involves multiple stages, including casting, machining, and finishing. Our goal is to comprehensively and in real-time collect data on production achievements, progress status, location information, yield information, and more at each stage, and to utilize the database information to improve the overall production activities. In the manufacturing site, we have implemented a system using wireless handheld devices that allows for the registration of production achievement data in the most optimal manner at each stage. Additionally, by utilizing large touch panel information terminals installed on-site, we can confirm various collected information in real-time, achieving high-accuracy collection of achievement information. The IT factory is realized by leveraging various cutting-edge IT technologies.

Applications/Examples of results
Aiming to achieve IT factory automation, the main theme is how on-site workers can proactively and continuously engage in the collection of highly accurate work performance data. We have worked on building a "visualization of the factory" system and have successfully realized it. Additionally, based on the collected work performance and progress information, we have achieved real-time inventory of work-in-progress, statistical yield evaluation, performance management through comparison with standard work hours, and understanding of indirect labor performance. By linking data with various departmental systems, we can effectively utilize the collected information.
