To improve workability, the stainless steel wire for springs is coated with nickel.
Most of the "spring stainless steel wire" has a nickel plating on its surface. The purpose of the nickel plating is to improve the sliding of the material and enhance the workability of spring processing (especially coiling processing). In fact, when coiling is done using "bare wire" without nickel plating, the material tends to stick to the mold, making the process unsuccessful. However, since "bare wire" has better corrosion resistance, there may be cases where its use is essential depending on the customer's application. The spring (part of it shown in the photo) was coiled using SUS304-WPB, and then the plating was removed. This allows for both workability (cost) and corrosion resistance to be satisfied. By performing barrel polishing as a finishing touch, a gloss like that in the photo can also be achieved. If you have any issues with springs or wire forming, please feel free to consult us.
