The analysis calculation automatically places the blank and mold elements at a height where they do not mutually contact. 【Differentiation Between Shell and Solid Elements】 The behavior of the blank during the forming process can be roughly understood through shell analysis. However, for issues often overlooked in shell element analysis, such as deformations exceeding forming limits in localized areas, edge cracks occurring in the blank contour, and handling in mold spaces smaller than the sheet thickness, analysis using solid elements is necessary.
