Wibu-Systems' German headquarters exhibited at the Hannover Messe held in Hannover, Germany (May 30 to June 2). It was the first real exhibition in a long time, and the number of exhibitors was reportedly lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic. During the event, Stefan Bamberg, Senior Key Account Manager and Partner Manager at WIBU-SYSTEMS AG, gave a presentation on the secure management of certificates with the CodeMeter Certificate Vault. Industry 4.0 is built on a technical foundation of smart and digitally connected systems, where machines, devices, and computers can communicate and collaborate with each other. However, this is only possible if each machine or device has a unique identity that distinguishes it from others and can be reliably identified. The keys and certificates necessary for this can be stored in secure hardware elements, such as a CmDongle connected to the device. This presentation introduced effective and established technologies for the secure and easy distribution of these keys and certificates.
