[Surface Treatment Case] Improving Production Equipment for Lithium-Ion Batteries!
NanoProcess®
Prevention of adhesion for OPP adhesive film used in lithium-ion batteries. The surface treatment lifespan of cutting equipment has been extended threefold, resulting in increased productivity!
We would like to introduce a case study on the improvement of cutting equipment for OPP adhesive films used in lithium-ion batteries. ■ Key Issues - Problems occurred when adhesive residue from the pads that adhere to the adhesive surface during film cutting caused the line to stop. - Although a release surface treatment was adopted, its lifespan was short, leading to frequent replacements. - To prevent line stoppages, a large number of adhesive pads were prepared as a countermeasure. ■ Selection Process - We wanted to use commercially available blades for surface treatment. - It was necessary to select a surface treatment that would not change the cutting performance. - A long-lasting surface treatment was needed to prevent line stoppages and reduce cleaning frequency. ■ Adopted Surface Treatment 'Nano Process TLS-200' ■ Effects of Surface Treatment - Release effect that prevents adhesive residue from sticking to the adhesive film. - The lifespan is three to four times longer than the previous surface treatment, resolving the lifespan issue. - The frequency of adhesive pad replacements has decreased, leading to improved productivity. This release surface treatment for adhesive films contributes to increased productivity. *For detailed product information, please download the PDF or contact us.

Specific problems arise due to adhesion troubles in the cutting process. Yoshida SKT offers surface treatments (coatings) that can resolve adhesion issues. 【Obstacles to Automation】 To advance the automation and mechanization of processes, it is essential that the line does not require human intervention and can operate continuously. However, if phenomena such as adhesive substances adhering to cutting tools occur, it becomes difficult to automate that line. 【Increased Cleaning Requirements】 If frequent cleaning and wiping of cutting tools are necessary, it not only leads to a decrease in production efficiency due to an inability to produce the expected quantity within the anticipated time but also results in increased working hours and overtime, leading to unseen cost increases and growing concerns about worker safety. 【Adhesion and Negative Impact on Products】 Adhesives or materials that stick to the cutting tools can adhere to the products being cut next, resulting in defective items or the need for repairs in subsequent processes. Additionally, a decline in cutting performance can lead to issues with the cut shapes.
