How smooth can the surface roughness be with wire cutting? I measured the surface roughness!
This time, we used titanium, which is commonly used as a material for aerospace components, and measured the surface roughness after performing wire cutting with the following number of passes on the same surface: 1 time, 3 times, 4 times, and 6 times. Typically, only the 1st cut is done, but if the machining drawing requires a specific surface roughness, it may be passed through multiple times. If the altered layer from electrical discharge machining is unacceptable, finishing is done using methods such as machining or polishing. 【Wire Cutting Passes and Surface Roughness (Measured Values)】 ■1st: Ra3.2 ■3rd: Ra1.6 ■4th: Ra0.7 ■6th: Ra0.2 *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
