The "Normal Plum Line (Wire Position Detector)" is an instrument that measures horizontal deformations (deflections) occurring in the dam body due to water pressure acting on the dam and ground deformation, in order to check the safety of the dam. A weight is suspended from the top inside the dam body using a stainless steel wire, keeping it stable in the direction of gravity at all times.
