The mission was to forge the parts that are being machined in response to the demand for cost reduction. Initially, four years ago, the then Deputy General Manager of Quality Assurance attempted forging, but after machining only a few pieces, the mold, which cost tens of thousands of yen, broke, and he gave up. Next, the current Deputy General Manager of Production Technology took over and designed the mold according to the drawings, but after machining just one piece, it broke and failed. It was later discovered that the aluminum was being closed-die forged, causing stress concentration at the corners of the mold. To overcome that issue, we made shape modifications and added relief grooves for tuning, and with great anticipation, we proceeded to test it, but the mold broke in one hit, and our motivation was shattered in one blow.
