This is a crane controller for hoisting. We received a request from a product design company to design the controller's housing and internal mechanisms, as well as to create prototypes and mold data. Instead of operating with conventional up, down, left, and right buttons, this controller allows for intuitive operation by rotating the handle in the desired direction. It incorporates a rotation angle sensor, solenoid, and control board internally, ensuring a satisfying click feel and safety. ◆Background Leading to Implementation Conventional crane controllers operated the crane using buttons for north, south, east, and west. However, this required users to mentally match the text with the direction, which often led to operational mistakes due to misunderstandings (near misses). ◆Solution To enable intuitive operation by "pointing the handle in the direction I want to go," we adopted electrical detection methods such as slip rings and angle sensors on the handle side. Additionally, a locking mechanism using solenoids was implemented.
