The process of performing grinding-level machining through turning is called "hard turning." Pistons used in hydraulic systems for construction machinery require extremely high precision, with outer and inner diameter tolerances of ±2 microns, surface roughness of Ra0.4 microns, coaxiality of inner and outer diameters of 3 microns, and perpendicularity between the end face and outer diameter of 3 microns as the required specifications. At our company, after heat treatment, we simultaneously machine the outer diameter, inner diameter, and both end faces using NC lathes, achieving machining equivalent to grinding through turning. By consolidating four processes into one, we enable process shortening and cost reduction. Additionally, simultaneous machining allows us to guarantee the coaxiality of the outer and inner diameters and the perpendicularity to the end face.
