Sulfur-resistant corrosion coating [Corrosion prevention measures for thermal power plants]
Sulfur-resistant corrosion coating
We will suppress corrosion in the actual coal-fired boiler to less than 1/4 compared to the unprocessed areas.
**Overview** We will implement and supervise the coating developed by the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI) aimed at preventing sulfide corrosion and high-temperature corrosion in the boiler water-cooled pipes and superheaters of coal-fired power plants (including oil-fired power plants) (Patent Registration No. 5110608). This can be completed in a short period even when there is no time for thermal spraying or build-up welding. (A licensing agreement has been established with CRIEPI) - CRIEPI has focused on the low reactivity of titanium oxide and sulfur, and has developed a composite film with excellent gas barrier properties. - In approximately two years of verification on actual coal-fired boiler equipment, corrosion was confirmed to be suppressed to less than one-fourth compared to uncoated areas (CRIEPI Report: Comprehensive Report M04 (2015)). - The high-temperature coating addresses high-temperature corrosion (CRIEPI Report M18004).
