With one IO-Link output sensor, it has become possible to measure positions at eight locations.
Temposonics, a company of the Amphenol Group, has announced the expansion of its Temposonics(R) E Series IO-Link for industrial applications. The linear position sensor with IO-Link output can now be used for multi-position measurement, detecting up to 8 positions simultaneously. The Temposonics E Series is suitable for various industrial application requirements. Its particularly compact design allows the use of magnetostrictive sensor technology in limited spaces. In 2016, Temposonics became the first company to offer a wide range of magnetostrictive position sensors with IO-Link output. Future upgrades will continue this trend, meaning that multi-position measurement with up to 8 positions of the linear position sensor is currently only available through Temposonics' E Series IO-Link. Position values can be measured along with speed values at up to 4 positions.

basic information
By determining multiple positions with a single sensor, there is no need to add additional sensors, which streamlines the measurement process. This means reducing costs while maintaining accuracy and simplifying the process. For example, in cutting or winding materials such as paper or film, such systems typically have multiple knives and trim tapes moving along a single rail. Previously, sensors were used for each knife. With multi-position measurement, it is now possible to monitor the positions of up to eight knives or trim tapes with a single sensor. The Temposonics® E Series IO-Link magnetostrictive absolute displacement sensor with multi-position measurement is an ideal solution for this type of system. You can continue to benefit from the well-known advantages of IO-Link technology, such as rapid initial commissioning and condition monitoring at all levels of the machine, from diagnostics to the sensor level. As with the previous E Series IO-Link, it is also possible to set important parameters for measurement and output switching points in parallel with position or speed measurements.

Temposonics introduced a non-contact, high-precision, and cost-effective non-contact absolute sensor method to the market in the early 1970s, using the magnetostrictive effect (Weidmann effect) for position measurement, which had previously been dominated by incremental methods. As a leading company in magnetostrictive sensors, we are committed to improving accuracy as position sensors, engaging in research and development, and enhancing quality to meet the needs of the industrial sector. Our sensors are increasingly being adopted not only as linear sensors to replace rotary encoders, linear encoders, and potentiometers but also in various industries such as hydraulics, pneumatics, water pressure, injection molding, welding, printing, textiles, construction machinery, wind power generation, metal processing, as well as in disaster prevention sensors like landslide sensors and bridge sensors. Temposonics will continue to develop further and strive day and night to be of service as a leading company in industrial sensors.
