This is an improvement case from a company that had been relying on elderly silver workers for packaging tasks. Currently, silver workers were assembling wooden pallets (wooden geta) using purchased lumber. We received feedback that: - Securing personnel is difficult. - Considering environmental impact, we would like to minimize the use of wood. Based on this, we began the design process. **Reasons for not transitioning to cardboard:** It seems that there had been a top-down goal to eliminate the use of wood for some time, but they had not progressed to an all-cardboard solution. - Currently, products were bolted to the wooden geta for fixation. Since cardboard cannot be secured with bolts, they hesitated. - They could not find a cardboard manufacturer that could meet such requests. **Improvements made:** - No need for nails or bolts. - Lightweight packaging. - Elimination of label application (printing directly on the packaging). ↓ ↓ ↓ - Anyone can package. - Simplified disposal for end-users (from industrial waste to recycled paper). - Reduction in air freight costs.
