Advantech announced on December 20, 2022, that it has started a business partnership with SRA Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as SRA) regarding the Ubuntu operating system from Canonical, which holds approximately 35%* global market share in the Linux operating system. (*According to a W3Techs survey in January 2022) Both Advantech, which has a global top market share in industrial computers (IPC/EPC), and SRA, which offers various software development and support services including embedded IT services and business, have agreed to collaborate on the sale of certified and pre-installed embedded computers with Canonical's Ubuntu, as well as on system integration and support services. This partnership will enable companies using Ubuntu in embedded environments to benefit from security support for up to 10 years, unified support for the OS and hardware, and access to a wide range of the latest technologies from embedded systems to the cloud.

Advantech offers approximately 20 models of embedded boards and computers that have undergone rigorous Ubuntu compatibility testing and certification processes by Canonical, listed as Ubuntu Certified products. They sell pre-installed models with a standard OS and security update period of 5 years (with the possibility of extending security updates for up to 10 years).
