A case of developing a hydraulic tensioner to safely and timely remove studs!
Removing a 3-meter-long stud from the bucket wheel drive output of a Sandvik stacker reclaimer is a difficult and time-consuming task. In previous operations, it took over 10 hours to remove each stud, and a maximum force of 120 tons was required to push or pull a total of 16 studs. To safely and promptly remove the studs, a custom GT4 hydraulic tensioner was developed. The tensioner extracts each stud in about 30 minutes, significantly saving time for the maintenance team.
