Gypsum casting is a casting method using gypsum molds. It can achieve a beautiful surface finish and dimensional accuracy comparable to die-cast products. It has good transferability, allowing for the reproduction of raised and recessed characters (such as part numbers and company logos with a φ0.3 tool). It is suitable for the production of prototypes, single items, and small lots, as well as for small quantities of various types. Since molds are not required, it can be provided with short lead times and low costs. It is particularly suitable for complex shapes, thin-walled, and hollow shapes that are difficult to manufacture with machining. The finished cast products are dimensionally measured using a three-dimensional measuring machine to ensure quality assurance. Zero draft angles and undercuts can also be accommodated, which are features of gypsum casting.
