Indoor Positioning System: Improvement Case for Inbound and Outbound Operations

Visualizing the workload of heuristic tasks to improve personnel allocation! Here we present a case study of successfully reducing manpower in the inbound and outbound operations of materials and parts.

We would like to introduce a case study utilizing the immediately deployable position and motion analysis tool "InQross Kaizen Maker" at a plastic injection molding processing factory. Is it possible to visualize and reduce manpower in the material and parts warehousing operations? Although there are three people involved in the warehousing tasks, from the perspective of the responsible manager, it seems that two people could handle the work. However, discussing this based on intuition does not lead to understanding on the shop floor. By implementing visualization for the warehousing operators and analyzing the results, we successfully achieved a reduction in manpower. 【Case Overview】 ■Analysis - When reducing from three to two people (A, B, C ⇒ A, C), the activity data over one week showed that while C's steps and activity level did not increase, A's steps and activity level increased by 1.2 times. - The steps and activity level did not increase by 1.5 times when reducing from three to two people. (If both individuals exceeded 1.5 times, it would be difficult to perform the tasks with just two people.) ■Improvement - A's tasks were redistributed to C to level out the workload. ■Result - We were able to reduce the number of warehousing operators from three to two. *For more details, please download the catalog.
