I will explain nine types of fluororesins.
List of 9 Representative Fluororesins ■PTFE Also known as polytetrafluoroethylene or tetrafluoroethylene, it is a white fluororesin with excellent sliding properties, non-stick characteristics, chemical resistance, and electrical properties. ■FEP A melt-processable perfluoropolymer developed after PTFE, it is a copolymer of TFE and hexafluoropropylene (HFP). Although its continuous use temperature is inferior to that of PTFE, it excels in moldability and non-stick properties. ■PFA A fluororesin developed to lower the melt viscosity while maintaining heat resistance equivalent to PTFE. It is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and perfluorovinyl ether (PFVE). ■ETFE A copolymer of TFE and ethylene, it is partially fluorinated. While it has excellent processability, its heat resistance and chemical resistance are lower compared to the above three types since it is not a perfluoropolymer.

basic information
■ECTFE It is a copolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) and ethylene. Among fluoropolymers, it excels in mechanical strength and processability. Compared to ETFE, it has superior flame resistance and hardness. ■PCTFE It is a homopolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE), characterized by its transparency and hardness, and has the lowest gas permeability among fluoropolymers. ■PVdF It is a homopolymer of vinylidene fluoride (VdF). It is hard, has the highest dielectric constant among fluoropolymers, and dissolves in polar solvents at high temperatures. ■PVF It is a homopolymer of vinyl fluoride (VF) and is difficult to mold, so films are its main application. ■TFE/PDD It is an amorphous fluoropolymer that is a transparent resin. It has excellent light transmittance from the ultraviolet to infrared regions and possesses optical properties such as low reflectivity and low refractive index.

Properties of Fluororesin ■Non-stick It has excellent release properties even against strongly adhesive substances, meaning it either does not adhere or is difficult to adhere. ■Water and Oil Repellency It repels water and oil well when they come into contact with the surface. Therefore, it is resistant to dirt and can be easily cleaned. ■Heat and Cold Resistance Among resins, it has high heat resistance, enduring high temperatures (up to 260°C). It also withstands low temperatures down to -260°C. ■Low Friction It has a slippery surface with a low coefficient of friction. Additionally, it exhibits excellent lubricity. ■Chemical Resistance It is rarely affected or corroded by chemical substances such as acids and alkalis. While a thin coating is not compromised, chemicals and solutions can penetrate the coating and corrode the substrate, so a thicker coating is used to prevent substrate corrosion. ■Electrical Properties It has high insulation strength (dielectric breakdown strength), volume resistivity, and surface resistivity, demonstrating excellent electrical insulation properties.
