basic information
IEEE-1394 (FireWire) cameras are used to capture images in various imaging applications. IEEE-1394 cameras are imaging cameras that utilize FireWire data transfer technology for image information transfer. IEEE-1394 cameras can choose between the IEEE-1394a and IEEE-1394b digital interfaces. IEEE-1394a (FireWire.A) cameras achieve a data transfer rate of up to 400Mb/s but only support cables up to 4.5m in length. IEEE-1394b (FireWire.B) cameras achieve a data transfer rate of up to 800Mb/s and can support cables up to 100m in length by using glass optical fiber cables.
