Edmund Optics offers a variety of wave plates made from crystals and polymers, including multi-order, zero-order, and achromatic wave plates. Polymer wave plates achieve excellent performance over a wide range of incident angles. Multi-order wave plates are suitable for use with monochromatic light that oscillates within 1% of the design wavelength. Zero-order wave plates achieve high performance over a broader range of wavelengths and temperatures. Achromatic wave plates provide consistent performance over a wide range of wavelengths and temperatures. For more details, please visit the official Edmund Optics website via the link below.

basic information
A wavelength plate, also known as a phase difference plate, provides a phase difference to the polarization state of light without attenuating, deflecting, or displacing the beam as it passes through. Wavelength plates are commonly used to rotate linear polarization or to convert linear polarization into circular polarization, and they are used in optical isolators. Phase difference plates are designed to function with light that has an existing polarization state. Using unpolarized light with a wavelength plate does not affect its polarization state, and the light maintains its unpolarized condition. Wavelength plates are made from birefringent materials, crystals, or polymer materials that generate a phase difference between the polarization components.
